Tips and ideas on how to be classy, creative, and fun in the classroom. |
In so many classrooms, the gifted children are shorted. They typically finish assignments before most average students, and without a productive system are left with nothing to do until you can move on.
A great way to keep these students productively engaged during in-between times is to have a “What Should I Be Doing” chart. Include activities such as writing spelling words, doing extra worksheets, reading a book, playing math games on the computer, etc. Change the activities weekly or quarterly to keep everyone interested. This will allow those students to continue working quietly as to not distract others and prevent them from zoning out completely.
An adorable way to make this decorative is changing it to “What Should I ‘Bee’ Doing” for a garden themed classroom. Include bees and flowers on the chart.
