I’ve found that adding “Super Secret” to anything makes it more coveted. I always have students names on popsicle sticks so before we go into the hall, I pick one and I’m the only one that sees it. I watch for this student to be safe, respectful and responsible in the hallway to and from our destination. If they do, everyone claps and the students receives the PBIS reward. If not, I don’t tell the name, but I just say that this person wasn’t exhibiting the right behaviors this time but hopefully will the next time. It’s helped make hallway trips easier.
This is such a great twist on the typical “hand on hip, finger on lip” when the students walk down the hall. I cannot wait to start adding “Super Secret” to a few things in my classroom, too!
