Tips and ideas on how to be classy, creative, and fun in the classroom. |
First off, I am so sorry it’s been so long since I’ve posted! Things have been crazy at school and home, so the blog had to take the backseat briefly. Don’t worry-I’m back and here to stay now!
I found some fun attention grabbers online that would work great in just about any classroom (I’m sure all you high school teachers would get mostly eye rolls though). The first ten are all that I found, and I’ve added some that I use at the end of the list. Enjoy!
1. Teacher: Ba da ba ba ba (McDonald’s Theme)
Students: I’m lovin’ it!
2. Teacher: Na na na na, na na na na
Students: Hey, hey, hey, goodbye
3. Teacher: Chicka, chicka
Students: Boom! Boom!
4. Teacher: Hocus Pocus
Students: Everybody focus!
5. Teacher: Macaroni and cheese
Students: Everybody freeze!
6. Teacher: Ready to rock?
Students: Ready to roll!
7. Teacher: All set?
Students: You bet!
8. Teacher Holy moly!
Students: Guacamole!
9. Teacher: Tootsie Roll, Lollipop
Students: We’ve been talking, now let’s stop
10. Teacher: Hands on top
Students: That means stop (put hands on their heads)
11. Teacher: Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap
Students: clap, clap (The “classic” knock)
12. Teacher: 1, 2, 3 Eyes on me!
Students: 1, 2 Eyes on you!
13. Teacher: Hands on your knees
Students: Quiet and freeze! (put hands on their knees)
14. Teacher: Stand up! Get the wiggles out! (Students stand and wiggle/dance around seat)
Students: (after wiggling for a few seconds) Now sit down, without a shout!
I typically use this one when the students are doing individual work to allow them to move around rather than getting very restless later on.
15: Teacher: Kiss your brain! (Students kiss their hands and then touch their heads)
Students: And make it rain! (Student do “spirit fingers” down to their side)
**As mentioned in the beginning of the post, I found the first 10 attention grabbers online. The last 5 are a few I use in my classroom. I found the first 10 on Pinterest and could not find a source for them. If you know of the source, please let me know and I will post credit. I do not intend to steal anyone else’s work!
