Tips and ideas on how to be classy, creative, and fun in the classroom. |
I found this idea here and I absolutely love it! The concept is simple, too. Whenever a student has volunteers to answer when no one else will, works very hard on on assignment, gives an “above and beyond” answer in class, or any other things those awesome kids do, give him or her a string of “Smart Beads” to wear for the day. Then, at the end of the day have them trade in the smart beads for a smart slip to take home. On the back of the slip, write what the student did that day that was extraordinarily smart.
You could absolutely switch this to “behavior beads” if you are having a problem incentives in your classroom. Personally, I LOVE the idea of encouraging academics in the classroom. This idea goes beyond the usual sticker or “good job” (don’t get me wrong, those a wonderful, too!) by boosting confidence in your students’ academic abilities.
