Tips and ideas on how to be classy, creative, and fun in the classroom. |
At the beginning of the week, to teach the word wall words (or spelling words, whichever you call them) have the students create rainbow words. Give each student a sheet of white paper either already separated into three columns or have them draw three columns. In the first column, have the students first write their name in black crayon. In the second column, they will write their name with consonants in blue and vowels in red. In the third column, they will write their name in orange, then purple, then blue, or as any (and as many) colors as they want to create a rainbow word! Have the students repeat this down the page with all of their spelling words. This is great for practice in learning spelling words and vowel/consonant recognition.
this is too cute!!
